My Rendition of BR's 2007 Knit Hat!

I absolutely adore this hat, but I prefer my rendition over Banana Republic's because their hat's brim looks too short. It may be because it's a purl stitch brim. I plan on making some more of these lovelies for the holidays!

I mixed two free patterns on Ravelry to make this hat.

Materials Used:

2 balls of Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Yarn in Dusty Blue

1 large button

Some extra black yarn to sew on the button

1 large blunt eye needle to weave in the ends and sew on the button

1 stitch marker

Size 10 straight needles

Size 9 circulars needles

Size 8 DPNs

Size 7 DPNs

Pattern:

CO 82 sts on size 10 straight needles

Then work seed stitch for 12 rows.

Bind Off 10 sts, knit to the end.

Transfer work to size 9 circulars and place marker.

Work the stockinette stitch until hat measures 5" from the brim.

Decrease:

*K7, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

*K6, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

(transfer work to size 8 DPNs)

*K5, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

*K4, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

*K3, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

(transfer work to size 7 DPNs)

*K2, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

*K1, K2tog, repeat from * to the end

Knit

Bind off

Weave in ends.
